THE INSPIRING STORY OF JUNE 21, NOW INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
Just over a decade ago, in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a historic resolution: to recognize June 21 as International Yoga Day. This proposal, carried with conviction by India and supported by over 170 member countries, bore witness to a global need: to get back to basics, to reweave the link between body, mind and environment. Why June 21? Because it marks the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, a symbol of expansion, light and balance - values that yoga fully embodies.
Since then, this date has resounded in thousands of cities, public squares, parks, beaches and mountain tops. Every year, millions of practitioners from all walks of life roll out their yoga mats to meditate, breathe and move together in a spirit of inner peace and universal solidarity. For yoga is more than a physical exercise: it's a silent language that transcends cultural, religious and social boundaries.
This day celebrates a vision of global well-being: accessible to all, respectful of each individual, without competition or judgment. Yoga reminds us that balance in the world begins with the balance we cultivate within ourselves. By taking part in this day, even through a simple gesture - a few minutes' silence, a refocusing posture, a wish for the world - everyone becomes an actor in a gentle but profound change.
Celebrating June 21st is part of a collective movement that goes beyond fashion and trends. It means honouring a thousand-year-old, secular and universal tradition, which is constantly adapting to the needs of our times. And it's also, humbly, an act of conscious presence in a world that so desperately needs it.

This card is not an object. It's a joyful commitment. A shared breath.

WHEN A YOGATERRAE YOGA MAT BECOMES THE FOUNDATION FOR A LASTING COMMITMENT TO PARALLEL HORIZONS
At Yogaterrae, each yoga mat is not simply designed, it's imagined. Like a free canvas on which materials, textures, elements of nature... and an ever-changing vision of well-being come into dialogue. While the mat remains the foundation of our practice, for us it is above all the starting point for a constantly evolving sensory and creative journey.
Our standards are not limited to the durability of materials: we embrace their expressive potential. Mats in PU + natural rubberSuede microfiber, plant-based cork, two-tone TPE, round, rectangular, travel or studioformats... each support becomes an opportunity to invent new sensations, to dialogue with contemporary postures and needs. And this is just the beginning.
Because the Yogaterrae universe is expanding, humbly but resolutely, towards new bodily practices: SUP yoga and water sports have inspired us to create a range of versatile, waterproof accessories. Tomorrow, products designed for gentle cardioand even cocooning items for winter will complete our lines. Without ever losing sight of what's essential: respect for the body, the beauty of the gesture, the soul of the materials.
We believe that creativity is a form of commitment. And that the rugs, bags, accessories, socks, wellness products and garments we design are there to re-enchant the experience of movement, breath and the link between oneself and the world.
At Yogaterrae, each creation tells a story: that of honoring bodies in their plurality, seasons in their cycle, and materials in their truth.
Each design is the fruit of an artistic and symbolic intention. A wave, a tree, a window, colors : nothing is left to chance.
Our rugs tell stories of places, elements and traditions.
They evoke the Mediterranean like Mediterranea, trees like ginkgos biloba, magnolias, sacred mandalas or silent temples. And in this visual narrative, it's also your own path that you trace, posture after posture.
A Yogaterrae mat is a discreet but powerful commitment.
It's saying, "I choose a yoga that respects life."

SIMPLE RITUALS TO HONOR THE DAY, ALONE OR WITH OTHERS
June 21 is much more than a symbolic date: it's an invitation to slow down, to breathe, to get back to basics. And you don't need to be an ashram footman or have been practising for ten years to celebrate International Yoga Day. The essence of this day lies in the simplicity of the gestures, in the awareness given to each breath.
Why not start the day with a slow, flowing greeting to the sun, in harmony with the rising sun? Or treat yourself to a moment of inner silence, sitting on your favorite mat in a listening posture? For those who like to share their energy, a group session, even improvised in a park or on a beach, can become a magnificent ritual of unity.
Some families choose to roll out their mats side by side. Others prefer to practice alone, by a lake, on a terrace, or simply in the quiet of their living room. Every context, every rhythm, every body is welcome. On this day, we're not looking for performance or aesthetics. Just presence with oneself, with others, with the universal breath that runs through every practice.
Treat yourself to a guided meditation, a gentle playlist, a notebook to write down an intention. Offer someone a moment of presence or a mat that may change their relationship with themselves.
Yoga is not a demonstration. It's a celebration of the living, of what connects. And this day is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with it, alone or together, on a mat that suits you.

THE COLLECTIVE POWER OF YOGA TO CREATE LINKS BEYOND BORDERS
On June 21, at the dawn of summer, a silent but immense phenomenon unfolds across the planet. Millions of practitioners - from Paris to Pune, Buenos Aires to Kyoto - unroll their mats, sit cross-legged, close their eyes... and breathe in unison. This is the magic of International Yoga Day, a day without barriers, hierarchies or frontiers.
Regardless of origin, language, religion or level of practice: on this day, it's the breath that connects, the consciousness that unites. It's not a question of believing in something, but of feeling, together, the beauty of a moment shared in peace.
In some countries, giant sun salutations are held in stadiums, public squares or temples. Elsewhere, they're more discreet circles, on a rooftop, by a lake, in a living room. But always, the intention is the same: to connect, not to do, but to be.
Each carpet becomes part of an immense human mandala, woven of intentions, gratitude and respect. And at the center of this symbolic momentum, perhaps you'll catch a glimpse of the silent image of a serene Buddha, resting next to a Yogaterrae lotus floweras a peaceful reminder of what uplifts, connects and soothes us.
And through this simple act - stopping to refocus - everyone becomes a player in a gentler, more conscious, more connected world.
It's not a utopia. It's a collective reality that we live out every year.
And what if this year, you added your breath to the world's breath?

AND IF THE FUTURE OF WELL-BEING DEPENDED ON CONCRETE COMMITMENTS
International Yoga Day is not just an annual celebration. It can be an intimate and collective springboard towards a lasting transformation of our choices. Because well-being isn't limited to a carpet rolled out once a year: it's woven into our daily lives, in our actions, our purchases, our priorities.
Adopting a more aligned practice also means paying attention to our surroundings. Choose a yoga mat that respects the environment. Support a brand that pays its artisans fairly. Opting for recyclable materials, sustainable products and ethical clothing. It means voting with your body, with your breath, with your heart.
This global day reminds us that well-being is not an individual luxury, but a commitment to a better world. Less plastic. Less running. More slowness. More connection. It questions the way we consume, teach and transmit.
What if every posture became an act of conscious consumption? What if every breath became a different way of living in the world? Through Yogaterrae, this is also what we cultivate: beautiful, useful, respectful products that support the body... and the Earth.
This June 21 can be more than a parenthesis. It can be a tipping point, a sincere commitment to shared well-being.
Thank you TINA for this post
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all those who are celebrating today - and tomorrow - this date of June 21, spreading yoga as a language of union, respect and peace. Your presence, your practices and your choices give meaning to our commitment. The creation of our Member Card is a humble step in the same direction: to make well-being more accessible, more united and more sustainable.
